High School Confirmation
High School Confirmation is offered for eligible 9th -12th Graders. -
Guidelines for Confirmation PreparationSt. Theresa Catholic Church offers preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation in accordance with Diocese of Austin guidelines. Eligible candidates are able to receive Confirmation as early as age 14 (or grade 9). Generally, eligible means (at minimum) receiving 2 years of comprehensive catechesis immediately prior to Confirmation. This can include being enrolled in a Catholic School or participation in a church catechesis program. The sacrament may be received at the end of the 2nd consecutive year.

- Attend Mass regularly
- Attend and actively participate in all Super Sessions (2 approved absences allowed)
- Complete all assignments
- Attend the Confirmation Retreat at Eagle's Wings Retreat Center - Feb. 15-16, 2025
- There are alternatives if you will not be able to attend the Eagle's Wings Retreat with our parish. More information will be forthcoming as other parishes finalize their dates.
- Submit Sponsor Covenant Form - Due March 1, 2025
- Complete Service Project - Due March 24, 2025
- Complete the Saint Report- Due March 24, 2025
Formation
"Super Sessions" will be held on Sunday afternoons (1-3:00pm) beginning in October. (See Session Schedule in Documents)
What will happen at the super sessions?- Candidates will gather with their usual small groups and leader
- Attendance will be taken
- There will be a talk/reflection given by an adult leader following each video.
- Everyone will be given small group questions to discuss
- There will be journaling and activities throughout the session
- We will end with a brief reflection/prayer and announcements
Confirmation Mass
The youth Confirmation Mass date is March 28, 2025 at 6pm. Rehearsal (mandatory for candidate and sponsor - or parent if sponsor isn't available) is March 27, 2025, also at 6pm. Parents may request a letter from the pastor for their teen to be Confirmed at another parish if this date is not suitable for their situation. The deadline to submit this request is January 31st, 2025.
Who can be a sponsor?
Confirmation sponsors are chosen to witness the Catholic faith to the person being Confirmed. They must be at least 16 years old and a practicing Catholic. This means that the sponsor, if married, has been married by the Church and is practicing the faith in an active, sacramental way and living a life in harmony with the teachings of Christ and his Church. A baptized person who belongs to a non-Catholic ecclesial community may not be a sponsor. The parent of a candidate may not be his or her sponsor. For Sponsors:
Other than the biggest requirement of being a practicing Catholic in good standing in the Church and attending rehearsal and Confirmation Mass, here are a few ideas of how sponsors can be involved this year:- Attend some, or all, of the supersessions with parents and Confirmandi
- Take your confirmandi out to lunch or dinner once a month to catch up and chat about the faith
- Give your confirmandi a call once a month and ask about the super session
- Do a community service project together
- Pray a rosary for the confirmandi
- Find ways to support the parents in spiritual formation this year
